My Days as Nanny

I find I’m a nanny again, a granny nanny! I not only take care of my new granddaughter who’s now 7 months, but also a cute little boy baby of 6 months! I watch both babies 3 days a week. I wasn’t sure I could manage it in the beginning, but have managed to create interesting and stimulating days for the babes. I text both moms thru out the day and also send them photos of their babies having good times, or napping, eating, etc. Both babies started eating baby food lately while in the highchair and enjoy their food and the messes they create! I play nursery rhymes on cds, as well as classical music, marches, fun and lively Mexican, Russian, Israeli, and other ethnic music for them. I also read picture books to them and they enjoy hearing the words and looking at the pictures. I have a huge colorful padded mat which they play on (I put baby toys on the mat) and move about on (not crawling yet, but soon). There’s a small mat as well but they have to be watched when on it as the quickly move off it now. And the jumper, rocker, bouncer, are all enjoyed by them. Both my charges like their cozy car seat atop their strollers to nap in, with their favorite blankets over them, and a paci or bottle at times. And of course during the day we go for walks outside, with them in double stroller, plus we sit under a big shaded tree after our walks and the babies enjoy watching the cars go by and looking up at the leaves of the tree. In the mornings we go out on our balcony and enjoy the air and watching the cars and buses; each of them in a rocker or bouncer with a favorite toy they can munch on as they are both teething. I go over the abcs and numbers, also vowel sounds ba, be, bi, bo, bu and go through until z and they are fascinated. I try and enrich their days in whatever ways I can think of to help their development. And of course, there’s lap time, hugs, a little bit of tickling and fun and making them giggle.
